The following applies to freeway signs: Permitted locations: Must be within two hundred fifty (250) feet of a freeway right-of-way. FREEWAY SIGNS ARE REQUIRED TO INCLUDE WITH SUBMITTALS: A scaled site plan indicating the distance of the proposed sign from the dedicated ADOT Right of Way. Maximum height: Forty-eight (48) feet from freeway grade to top of sign. Provide detail of how height of sign is determined from freeway grade. Note: For freeway signs, the freeway grade is the elevation of the outside edge of the freeway travel lane nearest to the freeway sign. Minimum clearance: Fourteen (14) feet from grade to bottom of sign. Indicate clearance from grade on elevation drawings. Sec. 3-23. Special inspector required. A. The following sign types shall be subject to continuous inspection by special inspectors as provided in Chapter 1 of the International Building Code. All detached sign structures exceeding one hundred (100) square feet in area or twenty-five (25) feet in overall height. A record of the special inspections shall be submitted to the development services department by the applicant and retained by the development services department with the sign permit application.
