07/26/2016 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT Approved Received a call from communication that T.F.D. on site with a house fire. Arrived and the units were picking up and checking for hot spots. The fire investigators were on site checking for cause. Appears that the house was hit by lighting and had a fire near the ductwork that was metal that was a supply vent for the AC system. The flex ductwork, insulation and the wood rafters and roof sheathing was burning. The fire was contained to the kitchen area in the ceiling area. The wood cabinets and some of the carpet were wet from the water used to put the fire out. The meter was pulled or blanked due to the lighting hitting the house and will need to be checked by an electrician to have the electrical turned back on with a reconnect permit. The main structure is OK and is a 2-story structure. The owner signed all the paper work and was staying with the neighbor. Did the posting of" Do Not Enter" and the owner will be calling the insurance in the morning for the claim. The gas was pinned until the electrical is turned back on. Took pictures and T.F.D. covered the opening on the roof with plastic. Southwest Gas did check for gas leaks and all is OK on the house line and the survey. Will check in 45 days. RV.
