07/28/2015 | FIRE - FINAL | Denied | IFC 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. -Your fire alarm needs an annual inspection. Provide a copy of inspection report. Any deficiencies noted on report shall be corrected. IFC 906.1 Where required (extinguishers). -Every classroom shall have an extinguisher unless you strategically mount some in the courtyard so they meet the 75' travel distance. IFC 906.2 General requirements (extinguishers). 1) Make sure all your extinguishers are inspected monthly. This can be done by non-certified personnel. Sign the back of tags or keep a log. 2) All extinguishers shall be current with their annual inspection. This inspection shall be done by certified personnel. IFC 703.1 Maintenance. -Replace all missing ceiling tiles. IFC 605.6 Unapproved conditions (electrical). -Add cover plates / covers to all electrical outlets/switches in the office building. IBC 1008.1.10 Panic and fire exit hardware. Doors serving a Group H occupancy and doors serving rooms or spaces with an occupant load of 50 or more in a Group A or E occupancy shall not be provided with a latch or lock unless it is panic hardware or fire exit hardware. Exception: A main exit of a Group A occupancy in compliance with Section 1008.1.9.3, Item 2. 1) Add panic hardware to the two courtyard gates, north side. 2) Add panic hardware to the west courtyard gate. 3) Add panic hardware to the south courtyard gate. 4) Add panic hardware to large south west courtyard gate or eliminate gate. See inspectors notes below. 5) Add panic hardware to the two north side exits in the hall. TFC 1030.10 Panic hardware. Where panic and fire exit hardware is installed within the required path of egress or any area accessible to the public, there shall be no other locking device on the door. -Do not add any other locking devices to the gates or doors once the panic hardware is installed. Inspectors notes: -Approved elimination of large gate located on southwest side of courtyard. Travel distance and width are met with the remaining four gates (two on north side, one on south side and one on east side). This gate cannot look like a gate if they choose to eliminate it. Must remove locking hardware and weld gate closed so it looks like a decorative opening only. All emergency and fire evacuation plans shall be designed with this in mind. |
