09/04/2015 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT Approved Received call from inspector Gerald Goodman to respond to house fire. Arrived and the fire was still active and looking for hot spots. The arson investigators were on site and checking for cause of the fire. The fire did start in the front carport area with a garage door installed on the driveway. The carport was a total lost. The front of the carport was a masonry wall in the front of the house and was cracking where the heat damaged the lintel over the opening to the carport. Did have cracks in the masonry in the middle of the masonry wall to the top section and on both ends of the opening on the sides. The cracks were opening as the wall was cooling down. The fire did burned a wood frame shed that was in the front of the house near the front door which also was a total lost. The fire went down the hallway in the interior of the house and did heavy smoke damage to the kitchen and dinning room areas. A vent hole was cut on the roof near the front door in the hallway area. All the windows have security bars and where the widows cracked on the glasss, the bars were able to secured the house and no other action was necessary to have the house secured. The owner was not able to secure the house a gave permission to have the City of Tucson contractors to secure the site. The front door entrance was secured by Arcaiden Industries with 3-sheets of the 3' door opening and the 2-sides where the wood siding burned exposing the drywall and the interior of the house. Biff Balker Fencing was called to have the front of the carport area secured to prevent entry into the carport area and in case the wall does fall in the driveway. The owner were going to stay with family members who live down the street. They did find the paper work to call the insurance. The owner did sign the paper work and met with the son to go over what needs to be done and gave a card to call me if anything needed to help. Once the property secured and took pictures, left the site. Did do posting on the front gate of "Do Not Enter". Will check in 45 days. RV.
