08/20/2015 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved Did go back to the site and the issues has been corrected that was causing the electrical issues. A new mini-split system was installed on the back section of the building. The building area was used for records and a computor and wanted a controled temprature inside that room for the storage. The wiring from the disconnect to the unit was was not proper. The installers used a red wire as a neutral and connected to the grounding bar. Did find on the top of the disconnect where a short acured where the conduit ties into the disconnect and goes to the panel in the interior of the building. The wiring has been correct with the green wire being used as grounding and a white as a neutral and the black is hot. The new unit is 120 volts and the old was 220 volts. The conduit was screwed to the stucco and the screws may have touched the chicken wire and that engerized the chicken wire and where it touched the metal ductwork it created an arc and that is where the burning started on the blocking and the wood stud. Will do N.O.V. for the new unit for work with out permits. RV.
