07/29/2015 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved Went back in the late afternoon and the workers have pulled off the site due to exhastion. They will be back tomorrow. Did have a crew that was pulling on site to check the containment area of the bladders due to the storm was pulling in and was starting to rain. The fire watch was being done and has a power plant in the rear of the building for some of the equipment. Did get a call from Angie on the unit of the damage and explain that the building is one warehouse and has no units. Did let her know that the damage was in the lobby area. An address change will be required due to currently has unit for the building. Will check tomorrow. RV.
07/29/2015 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved Received call from inspector Valdez to check the site. Arrived and the architect and the engineers have been on the property to inspect the damaged areas. Did have a contractor on site, Damage Control. The contractor did have an electrician checking the damaged area and was looking at keeping the warehouse area up and running to keep the business going. The area that was damaged is where the administration was located. Did meet with the plant manager Jim Richards to advised that the area damaged was not going to be able to be occupied. Did go over that the contractor will be taking control of the area and went over the area to be blocked off to the worker for the business and if any one that needs to get in the area of the damage area will need to get with the contractor. The contractor was going to look at the area to have locks installed on doors or covering openings where no door exist to control the area that was damaged. The commercial inspector from the building division Jim Burge was called to the site to observe the damage and was able to let the contractor know what area to block off to keep the warehouse opened. A write up was given to Jim and an owners rep. was on site at the time and did go over the issues of getting the items out of the damaged area and the contractor having control of the damaged area. A permit is being required for the demo to be done and will require an inspection done once the demo has been completed. Did go over that letters from the engineers or the architects or both are being required to let any one back into the work areas that are going to be used once all utilities have been isolated from the damaged area. Due to more rain is called for, did go over the containment area that has been set up on maintaining to prevent the water going pass the containment area. They do have a sump pump in the containment area to get the water to the exterior of the building. The sprinkler system is off and has the fire watch being done by a security company. Kazal fire protection was on site to look at the damaged area and working on blocking off the area not going to be used to get the system back on line. They were going to try and get the system back on line by tonight and will call if going back on line. The electrician and the contractor are still checking on how far the damage has gone. Did go over that the electrical is to remain off until checked by the inspector on what areas are going to be used and check what has been removed on the electical system and the area that is going to be blocked off to prevent entry into that blocked off area. Did go over the power being turned on for testing, but did advised that once the testing is completed that the power needs to be turned off until inspected for approval to remain on. Will be back on site to check on the progress of the containment and the package AC on the roof is suppose to be removed this afternoon. RV.
