***NOTE: ALL DETACHED SIGNS REQUIRE SIGN FOOTER/EXCAVATION INSPECTION PRIOR TO INSTALL***

GENERAL NOTES/ATTACHED SIGNAGE:

1) Per Development Package DP13-0018 and building plan T14CM00498 existing building will be demolished and new building to be constructed. Further understood the existing nonconforming pole sign is to remain (same use).

2) Provide height and setback from face of street curb for existing nonconforming pole sign.

3) Increase font of menu board pages - minimum font size is 12 point for records scanning.

4) The Valuations (on application) for the signs do not appear to be accurate - especially for the signs that are illuminated or have footers as well. Please understand, the reason this information is sought is not related to permit fees - it is to provide the federal government with permit value information. Prior recent McDonald's sign valuations exceed the values listed on this application.

5) Per 3-18, 3-32 - allowed sign area is 3 X street frontage. Length of lot line along Speedway may be used for street frontage as this is a stand alone site. Provide copy of sheet SP1 from DP13-0018 that shows the street frontage.

6) Revise permit application to list frontage noted. List existing sign area (exist pole sign is listed at 179.20) and list total proposed sign area. Examine total sign area to ensure within code allowances.

7) Clearly call out the sign area of each sign next to the dimensions for each sign in the construction page (it's very hard to find and the print is very small). Measure as boxed area.

8) What is the "Welcome" sign - is it a canopy sign or a wall sign? Provide attachment detail, if a canopy sign, it should appear on the tops of the canopies over the entrances in the south elevation views and west elevation views. If applicable, demonstrate meets criteria of a canopy sign per the Sign Code.

DETACHED SIGNS:

9) Demonstrate all detached signs are setback 1' minimum from face of drive thru curbing per UDC 7.4.6.F.2.a

10) Provide a scaled site plan to evaluate minimum 20' setbacks for traffic directionals and note signage cannot be in sight visibility triangles.

11) Menu boards are single faced signs per Sign Code Administrator. Remove the triangle/prism menu board from this sign package.

12) Incidental signage such as "drive -thru" "order here"station poles and "clearance bars" cannot exceed 2 square feet sign area each (the text). Revise and fully dimension, noting sign area of each on the elevation view.

13) Per 3-18 & 3-63, Dimension cabinet for menu board, cannot exceed 7' height and 48 sqft sign area. (total sign area is the extents of the sign cabinet per Sign Code Administrator).

FOOTER DETAILS:

14) Per SC 3-18, provide diagram noting width/depth of sign footers (rebar and how installed to footer - pipe, bolts etc) for every self-supporting sign: drive thru clearance bars, traffic directionals, menu and order boards.

MOUNTING:

15. No mounting details were given in this packet. For each sign type, per SC 3-18, note method of mounting for each sign (type, size, number of screws/bolts, etc) and note the type of surface to which it is to be mounted. (i.e. block wall, frame/stucco, etc)
16. Under canopy signs must be mounted to underside (ceiling) of the canopy (not to attach as prohibited projecting signs) and cannot swing. Revise attachment detail. Revise application to call out as "UC" for undercanopy signage.

ELECTRICAL:

17. Electrical information is missing from typical sign details. On the construction diagram for EACH type of sign, list the volts, amps, circuits, and light source for each and label the disconnect switch. (NEC 600)(SC-3.18) ***This applies also to clearance/order/drive-thru bars and menu boards as well. ***

OUTDOOR LIGHTING CODE:

18. Per Chapter 4 (OLC): 403.5.1 The means of controlling the specific "off" curfew shall be by a 24 hour timing device that includes stand-by power to maintain the time and program for a minimum of 6 hours. ***Note a timer shall be provided for each sign.***
