| 03/25/2014 | SIGN SITE REVIEW | Correction Required | Permit T14OT00354 For: 4 new vinyl wall signs to be mounted to north elevation AT: Chicago Store, 5646 E Speedway Reviewer: Heather Thrall (Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov) 3/25/14 THE SIGN CODE (SC), CHAPTER 3 OF THE TUCSON CITY CODE, APPLIES TO THIS REVIEW. 1) Acknowledged application, sign elevation view, sign construction/sign area detail and location map all provided by store owner, thank you. 2) Max sign area off Speedway appears 180 square feet based on Speedway lot line (two lots are one premise together under the Sign Code, lot line frontage is used for sign area calculation purposes on Speedway). The exist monument sign area used by Chicago Store is noted at 24 square feet. Existing sign area used is 75 square feet on the building, leaving 81 square feet available, providing 30% elevation coverage not exceeded (checked in elevation drawing, no issue). Proposal of 102.3 square feet of new sign area should be revised. 3) Per SC 3-18: On elevation view sheet: A) List calculation for total surface area of building wall (height x length) in sqft, then note what 30% coverage of this surface would be. List exist sign area at 75 sqft on wall, sqft of new sign area (note, see #2, revision needed) then total sign area altogether after all signs installed. (18x60 =1080 x .30 = 324 max coverage is what staff got, please check) B) Identify this is the North elevation of the building, call out height to the top of each sign (record indicates Chicago Store sign at 14' tall off ground to top). Add your business name and address to sheet. 4) On location map sheet: label name of side street as Van Buren, point with arrows where signs A-D are going to be added to the property, call out length of the building wall for the Chicago Store that actually faces Van Buren, add a north arrow to the drawing - (add a page number and your business name and address) 5) On the sign area detail sheet, reduce their sizes so overall sign area off Speedway is not more than 180 sqft - including sign area on exist monument sign. Add business name and address and list the total sign area proposed on this permit. 6) On permit application, call out "N" for north elev for placement of all signs, call out "non" under the illum column for all signs, call out "W" for each of the signs in the "type of sign" field. ("W" is for wall sign). Correct height to top of the signs to match elevation view, list feet of frontage for both Speedway and Van Buren. List the "total existing sign area on north building elev at 75 sqft plus 24 sqft on the existing monument sign off Speedway frontage for total sign area used now of 99 sqft."
