Received call from Martin Lopez that T.P.D. on site with a car thru building. Arrived and T.P.D. has left the site. A VW had rolled from the top of the hill of the street into this address hitting the carport area. The damage was to masonry block column for a fence and hit the front wood post and knocking it out. The VW hit the owners car and pushed it to the side. The wood post was in-between the vehicles. The tow truck was on site and was able to remove the wood post with the owners car driven out of the carport. The VW was towed away due to the oil pan had a hole from hitting rocks in the neighbor yard. The neighbors property only had oil on the ground where leaking from the oil pan. The owner gave permission to call the contractor to the site due to she was not able to find anyone to support the beam. The neighbor had installed one and did not have another one to support the end once the vehciles were removed. Bathcrest was called to the site and did install a 4 x 4 to support the beam. The beam has termite damage where the post was connected to the beam. The beam has no framing anchors connecting the beam to the rafters. Did let the owner know that if the beam and posts are replaced that a permit is required to check the install. If the post is repaired with out changing the beam that the inspector could check the repairs. The parents of the vehicle that hit the post is making arrangements to have the repairs done and the insurance have talked. Will check in 45 days. RV. |
