03/10/2014 | INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT | Approved | RESPONDED TO CALL BY TFD A BEST WESTRN MOTEL, UPON ARRIVAL MET WITH MANGER TESH DISHORE AND TFD. MANAGER HAD RECEIVED SEVERAL CALLS FROM OCCUPANTS AND ONE OCCUPANT HAD CALLED TFD. LIGHTS AND DEVICES, TV'S HAD BEEN FLICKERING AND CALLER IN ONE ROOM SMELLED SMOKE. BY THE TIME I ARRIVED OCCUPANTS HAD BEEN PLACED ELSEWHERE AND THE 24 AFFECTED UNITS WERE NOW VACANT. TFD HAD GONE ROOM BY ROOM AND DID SMELL BURNING IN ONE OF THE 24 ROOMS. QUICKLY WALKED ALL ROOMS WITH TFD, FOUND A SINGLE BREAKER IN THE OFF POSTION (THE ROOM WHERE SMOKE WAS SMELLED), AND THEN MANAGER TOOK ME TO HIS MAINTANENCE ROOM WHERE SERVICE DISCONNECT FOR THE WEST COMPLEX WAS LOCATED. WALKED THE EXTERIOR OF THE STRUCTURE TO A SERVICE POLE WHERE TRANSFORMER FOR THE WEST COMPLEX WAS PLACED, TFD SAID THEY MAY HAVE SEEN ARCHING COMING FROM WIRES OUTSIDE THE TRANSFORMER. TEP ARRIVED CHECKED THE POLE AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS BUT SUGGESTED A NEW TRANFORMER REPLACE THE EXISTING AND THAT POWER WOULD BE RESTORED IN 2-3 HRS. MANAGER AGREED THAT TRANSFORMER BE REPLACED. TEP TECHNICIAN DID PLACE A CALL FOR A NEW TRANFORMER TO BE INSTALLED AND EXITING TRANSFORMER TO BE REMOVED. TECHNICIAN MARK METNTIONED AFTER THE REPLACEMENT POWER COULD BE RESTORED. ** RECEIVED CALL FROM TESH DISHORE AT 9:10 AM THAT POWER HAD BEEN RESTORED AND DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS TURNING POWER BACK ON TO THE WEST COMPLEX. TURNED BREAKER BACK ON TO ROOM #141. ALL **ISSUES WERE ABATED TO THE TRANSFORMER BY TEP ON THE TEP SIDE WHICH IN TURN ALLOWED HOTEL SIDE TO ABATE THEIR ISSUE. COMPLIANCE / CLOSE CASE. |
