| 01/22/2014 | INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT | Approved | A Toyota truck collided with the building causing minor damage to both the exterior and interior walls at the point of impact. Inspection of the interior wall revealed that at least one wall stud was entirely dislodged from the sole plate. The wall was intact otherwise and no evidence of potential collapse was apparent. The north exterior wall has a design feature that incorporates several buttress like protrusions for aesthetic value. The impact from the vehicle was concentrated largely on a single buttress however a portion of the wall to the left of the buttress was contacted as well and this is the area where the wall stud was dislodged. There was no obvious damage or compromise to the electrical system. There was a piece of conduit running through the wall at the point of impact however there was only a slight bend and no breakage. There was no plumbing or mechanical involved. The impact resonated through the entire length of the north wall, approximately 80', causing the separation of an inside corner in the drywall in a room approximately 60' from the point of impact. There was a personnel door to the right of the impact area that was moved slightly however it is still operable with a bit of persuasion. The property representative at the scene was given a copy of the damage report, an NOV for TC16-4 and advised of the licensed commercial contractor and building permit requirements for restoration. No boarding or securing of the property was necessary. Photos were taken and are located in SIRE. Follow up in 30 days. |
