Date Description Inspector Results Comments
08/19/2015 FIRE SPKLR - UG, PIPING, HYDRO Approved held 200 psi for five hours ( pressured up at 6 am) tested at 11:30 am and was 220 psi. released pressure.
08/12/2015 FIRE SPKLR - UG, PIPING, HYDRO Denied 200 psi test was done on 77 feet of underground and passed, the last 7 to 8 feet for the riser section was cut out due possible leaking pressure from this section. OKAY to bury underground for safety but do not cover the last 7 to 8 feet away from the building for the riser, will need to do another 200 psi for 2 hours test again when connections are made to the riser. (UG permit T15BU00896)
08/10/2015 FIRE SPKLR - UG, PIPING, HYDRO Denied On site at 9:15 AM ask one underground contractor what time was the 200 pound pressure test started he state just about 1 hour ago, I went and looked at the pressure gauge and seen it's at 200 to 205 psi I did notice that the gauge was attached to a ¼ turn valve and two more ¼ turn valves on line making three altogether for this test. I sat by until 10:30 AM told the contractor that the 2 hours was up and the gauge still shows 200 - 205 psi. I then asked the contractor to find the handle for the ¼ turn valve just below the gauge (as it was missing) so that we can check and make sure the valve was open, we did find a handle and the valve was close when opening it the gauge went down to 50 PSI- TEST FAILED.
Also called A-AAA and asked if the can resubmitted plans' showing what is on site the plans stated 6" C-900 pipe but its ductile iron piping was wrapped in plastic and has a tracer wire in place. Plans states restraint assembly clamps to be used but when I inspected they installed field lok 350 gasket joint restraints something I have not seen I asked the contractor to send in the paperwork and show that it's approved for fire lines.
08/04/2015 FIRE SPKLR - UG, PIPING, HYDRO Denied The contractors plans state that a separate permit shall be pulled for the installation of the underground ( from Tucson Water to the stub up for the riser). The general contractor called in an UG piping and hydro and an UG flush for today and further research shows no permit was pulled. Work has been completed by Eagle Rock and has already backfilled. A permit shall be pulled, Plans shall be submitted and the underground shall be exposed for visual inspection before hydro and the flush shall be approved.
