03/05/2015 | FIRE - ALARM FINAL | Cancelled | Contractor called (396-0413) and cancelled inspection for today, TMC decided to pull the alarm system out of the building altogether. The building is office use only with Occ. Load of 40 to 60 with a small sprinklered basement with 18 heads therefore no alarm system is needed. They need more time patching ceiling in the basement fire proofing all holes. | |
12/10/2014 | FIRE - ALARM FINAL | Partial Approval | Temp C of O (Partial approval) given for south wing legal department and a contactors office only According to a TMC reprehensive Mr. Matthew Maynard stated that were told from system engineering section that the fire alarm system that was install years ago can be remove since the building is now used as a group "B" and does not need an alarm system. Mr. Maynard did then state they are going to monitored the sprinkler system for water flow and tamper (sprinkler is in the basement only 15 heads). I did advise Mr. Maynard that they will need to remove all pull stations, smokes and anything that has anything to do with the old alarm system. If they are installing a new monitoring system that they will need to have an approved plan and permit before installation, also advise him that a smoke and pull station will be need for the new fire alarm monitoring system. According to IFC 903.4 Exception #2 - states "Limited area systems serving fewer than 20 sprinklers" a monitoring system is not required. So they do not need to install a monitoring system but they do need a WMG or outside electric bell but TMC wants to install a monitoring system and they will need an approved plans and permits for this (IFC 105.7.6). |
