Individual premise. Sign Code reviewer: Heather Thrall, Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov or 837-4951 The following codes apply: Sign Code & International Building Code (structural/electric) 1) Acknowledged site plan with 36' dimension across access driveway (measuring from north to south). Full lot width not shown on architect's site plan. Correct frontage is full lot width along Tucson Blvd., 47.49' per Pima County Assessor's. Revise sign permit application. A copy of Assessor map has been added to the application as a courtesy. 2) Acknowledged the following meets code on plans submitted: sign area, setback from street curb face and setbacks from PAALs per zoning review supervisor. 3) Acknowledged sign is 8' tall as measured from base grade. Grade for a sign within 40' of roadway is measured from elevation of outside edge of street or roadway travel lane nearest to sign measured perpendicular to the travel lane. On elevation view, show height of sign as measured from edge of Tucson Blvd. and indicate difference between roadway elevation and elevation at sign base. 4) On top aerial view of sign showing setbacks around driveway island, add dimensions for sign width (and clarify if sign column is wider than the sign cabinet) and dimension to driveway curb on south side of sign. 5) Sent out for field inspection to confirm setback/ check grade. Further comment may be forthcoming depending upon inspection. Structural/Electrical review - Eric Newcomb 1) Drawing in engineering package notes welding of steel saddles to existing support pole in three places. As existing pole, assumed field welding, requires special inspection. Have engineer fill out special inspection form to specify type of inspection and qualified special inspector, and return form to staff for approval prior to release of sign permit. The special inspection form can be found here: http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/files/dsd/Special_Inspection.pdf |
