Received call from inspector Gerald Goodman and need assistance on the call. Arrived and the fire investigator were waiting for the search warrant to be served to have the inspection done. The roof members the trusses have been lifted from the wall including the top plate in the front portion of the house. No contact with the owner and has a for rent sign posted and called the phone number and left a message with the realtor. While waiting for the investigation to be completed the owners showed to the property. The owners met with the investigators. The kitchen area was a total lost with the cabinets burning, the plaster being pulled down to check for fire in the attic, and heavy smoke through out the house. The toilet was broken, the vanity was pulled off the wall and a wooden shelf were damged and pulled off the wall and laying against the tub. A vent hole was cut in the roof near the living room area. The AC has the top of the unit bent up and was newly installed. The front door was kicked in to gain entry to the fire. All the other doors opened once the entry was made. Several windows were broken from the fire to gain air in the bedrooms on the east side. Found a window opening in the garage that has been pulled off. The electrical has been removed from the pole and the gas meter pinned. These will require a re-connect permit to have turned back on. The top plate on the front masonry wall is lifted and not seated properly on the wall and the bolt holes are not lined up. This roof will need to be checked for broken bracing in the trusses and the 1x planking checked for nailing. The owner signed all the paperwork and will try and find someone to have the property secured. Will check in the afternoon. RV. |
