07/13/2012 | SIGN SITE REVIEW | Partial Approval | Contractor provided updated drawings, contour maps, and met with structural division regarding plug welds and solid welds. Agreed special inspection certificate is required for welding inspection due to sign height. All that remains to approve this project is for the contractor to turn in a special inspection certificate sealed by an engineer that identifies the special inspector and inspection needed for the welding. | |
07/12/2012 | SIGN SITE REVIEW | Correction Required | Signs staff requires additional information to complete the review of this proposed Article 8 reduction to a freeway sign. Please provide the following: 1) Per 3-96. C.1.a.3. - provide a location map showing current and proposed position/setback of the sign from adjacent property line and contour elevation difference of the freeway grade compared with elevation of the grade at the base of the sign. (See our PRO website and add contours under the Engineering tab.) With the sign being lowered, elevation information is needed to clarify if the sign will remain nonconforming to the height allowances within the Sign Code. 2) Please dimension the sign cabinet on the submittal. (Please verify if our records of 17.5 x 14 are accurate.) 2) Provide photos of all existing signs on site, per 3-96.C.1.a.1. 4) Structural division has also looked at this proposal. While the overall scope of the proposal is understood, the mechanics of how it will be performed are not fully demonstrated within the construction drawing. The reviewer has questions as to what the diagram is depicting (regarding the lower portion of the new welds/plates) and would like to meet with the contractor briefly to discuss/clarify. |
