10/19/2012 | SIGN SITE REVIEW | Correction Required | Review comments for T12OT00481, McDonald's 5445 E. Speedway REVIEWER: HEATHER THRALL (Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov or 520-837-4951) The following review comments remain from 10/9 email to contractor/sign runner; 1) A menu board cannot be installed in an existing, approved loading zone. Per Zoning Review, the loading zone is no longer required for restaurants under 5000 sqft. To remove loading zone from plan requires revision to development plan DP12-0051. (This change can be reviewed in "walk-thru"). This DP was reviewed only for area noted on the plan "SP1.A." for accessibility and parking. Provide barrier between signage and vehicular use (i.e. curbing or bollards) and the shed relocation depicted on plan was not reviewed for minimum setbacks against adjacent residential zone. Contact Steve Shields at 520-837-4956 or Steve.Shields@tucsonaz.gov 2) Clarify if "Welcome" canopy signage on building plans T11CM03080 is to be installed. If applicable, show construction, dimensions on sign plans - limit to max of 2 square feet area (to be incidental sign) or mounted to wall. And add to application. 3) Per email by permit runner, "pre-sell board" removed in revision. Clarify if "pre-sell board" is staying or being removed. If applicable, remove references to that sign from all resubmitted sign plans. If staying, note location on "red noted" site plan to match the SP.1. site plan. 4) A revised sign permit application is required to accurately depict all signs types, dimensions, heights and correct amount. Signs staff is willing to assist with this, contact reviewer with clarifications on the above first. 5) An excavation inspection is required for footers on all types of freestanding signs. Footer excavation inspection is done under sign permit, which is released to sign contractor. The footers for the signs were not shown on the sign construction drawings, but were shown on building plan T11CM03080. Clarify who will be responsible for the excavation and installation of the sign footers. If footer excavation/installation to be done by general contractor, that inspection will be added to building permit and an additional fee of $82.50 will be assessed. 6) The sign permit can only be released to the licensed sign contractor unless the contractor provides a written/signed statement allowing a 3rd party (sign permit runner in this case) to obtain the permit on their behalf. 7) Note an $82.50 fee is being assessed for review of the revision to the sign package for structural/electrical review. Please provide the total number of electrical circuits required for this revised sign package. |
