| 11/29/2012 | INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE | Approved | Received a call from communication that T.F.D. on site with a house fire. Arrived and the rear unit of the property had a fire through out the house. There was a pick up truck on the east side of the house and burned with some storage between the house and the truck that also burned. The wires that supplied power to the rear unit were cut at the riser and the meter pulled on the front house. Arson investigators were looking for the cause and had ID called to the property for pictures. The water heater has a water line where the fitting has come off due to the heat and the valve at the meter has been turned off due to not able to turn the water off. The interior of the house has been totally burned with the fire getting into the attic of the roof. All wiring in the living room, kitchen and the attic have been burned or damaged. The drywall is burned or heavly smoked and has blistering or peeling of the paper. Some of the drywall has been removed or fallen where checking for fire. The living room has wood siding on the walls and burned or charred. The gas line is exposed in the living room and kitchen wall and the attic getting heat from the fire. The gas meter has been pinned due to a leak is in the gas line on the house side. Was not able to make contact with the owner and called Bathcrest to the property to have all the openings secured. Has 7-windows and 2-doors. The trusses are built with collar ties at the peak and burned through out and on the east side has not much wood to support the roof. Vent holes were cut on the roof on both sides of the roof. The wood framing will need to be checked once all the wall and ceiling covering have been removed to check for fire damage to the wood material. I have made contact with the owner and she is aware of the fire and is making contact with the insurance and will be coming to the site. The owner was made aware of the building being secured and she said OK. The tenant signed all the paper work and will be giving it to the owner when they show up. Did discuss that the structure is being condemned and that in order to re-enter the building that the owner needs to be notified of entry into the building. The tenants were given time to remove any items out before the structure was secured. They have six animals that died inside the bedroom and still under the mattress and bedframe and not able to remove the animals due to the amount of trash and debris from the fire. The building was posted of "Do Not Enter" at the front door and the west window facing the street. The tenants were going to get the items in a shed and have met with redcross and were going to another location to stay. Did have one injury and he is at the hospital and another injury where she received burns on her arms and will be going to the hospital to be checked due to getting blisters. Did the N.O.V. and the Notice to Vacate and Ryan signed all the paper work. Did advise that the owner is coming to the property once the insurance calls her on what to do and should give her the copies or if they want to keep copies should go and make copies. Will check in 30 days. RV. |
