I did not see the grinding but I could definitely hear it from the neighboring property's driveway, just south of the tall structure which abutts the property line. CR
01/23/2013 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved Received an e-mail from Tracy W. to check up on the cuttng and grinding granite. I went to 2229 S. Mission and spoke to the owner, Jodie B. While I was there, approximately 45 minutes, there was no loud grinding noises. She did state that work was being done after hours late at night.

12/13/2012 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved At site, met with owner, Lou. Explained the issues with zoning and also needs a C of O. Owner is in violation of site plan. F/U 30 days.
11/29/2012 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved At site with Inspector Goodman. The rear gate was open so we could see where the granite was being cut and sanded/ground down. Found a granite table saw being used. Spoke to owner, Lou. Explained to him that he was in violation of zoning C-2 regulations, hand tools only. The owner started up the table saw and cut a three foot piece of granite. The saw cuts about 12" per minute and hardly made any noise. Inspector Goodman and I both agreed that the two employees with the hand grinders/sanders were more noisy and created more dust than the table saw. Still, the table saw violates the Tucson Code. There is also an illegel structure attached to the main building. F/U 30 days.
11/27/2012 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved At site, spoke to neighbors, said grinding noise is going on. Property owner has installed a wooden fence around the chain-link fence so you can't see in. He also draped a sunscreen down from the roof. Will check records with DSD about covered storage area on site plans.
10/25/2012 INSP - FOLLOW UP CODE ENFORCE Approved At site, spoke to several neighbors about dust and noise. Landlord said she can't get tenants to stay because of the noise. Other neighbors complained about the dust, coughing and breathing issues. While I was there the noise was okay and there was no dust. Ask the neighbors to call me if noise and dust continue. F/U 30 days
