08/23/2012 | INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT | Approved | RECEIVED CALL FROM COMMUNICATIONS, TF D WAS REQUESTING A INSPECTOR AT 2 W UNIVERSITY BLVD #21O4 (SECOND FLOOR), FOR A KITCHEN FIRE. IN ROUTE, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM BATTALION CHEIF JIM KEARNY WHO MENTIONED THEY MAY NOT NEED ME DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES. I ASKED THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGED AT WHICH POINT I WAS TURNED OVER TO THE FIRE CAPTAIN. HE INFORMED ME THAT POWER HAD BEEN TURNED OFF TO SEVERAL UNITS BUT THAT ALL POWER WAS RESTORED INCLUDING #2104. NO ADJOINING UNITS WERE AFFECTED BY THE FIRE. DAMAGE WAS MOSTLY WATER DAMAGE FROM A SPRINKLER HEAD THAT WENT OFF IN THE UNIT, MANAGER ALREADY CONTACTED FIRE ALARM COMPANY WHO WERE ON SITE REPLACING THE SPRINKLER HEAD, AND THEN WOULD RECHARGE THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM. MANAGER WILL ALSO BE PLACING TENANT IN A DIFFERENT UNIT, HAS NOT BEEN DONE YET. FIRE DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE CABINETS, NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. I EXPLAINED THAT I WAS ALREADY IN ROUTE, TFD MENTIONED THAT THEY FELT THEY HAD IT HANDLED, THEREFORE I DID NOT PURSUE THE CALL. |
