Except as specifically permitted by this section egress doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort. ______ Remove lock on middle exit door. [per Fire Marshal]. ______ Place an "EXIT" sign above door and lower handle to approved height per the building code. ______You may also, at your discretion, add a sign on the door stating something like the following: "Emergency exit only" and/ or "Security Cameras are active" I would recommend 2 or 3" red letters on white decal. NOTE: For the time being the door on the side may remain locked. Firefighters will be able to get out because of the construction being glass panels, and the travel distances are acceptable for the two [required] exits. In addition your store is sprinklered - minimizing the effects of a fire. Be sure to alway have an operational sprinkler system -inspected, tested and tagged annually. |

The power supply for means of egress illumination shall normally be provided by the premise's electrical supply. In the event of power supply failure, an emergency electrical system shall automatically illuminate the following areas: [where currently located] ______Fix all inoperative emergency lights. ______ Install emergency lighting by the rearmost exit in the storeroom. [This can be a simple light system that plugs into an outlet, and when the power goes off the backup light comes on illuminating the back [panic hardware] door. |
