Tucson, AZ. 85710 Dear Mr. Rigby, The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection at the above stated business on January 11, 2010. Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). A Re-inspection will be performed on or about January 25, 2010. Notice of Violations: 1._____ 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. Non-required fire protection systems and equipment shall be inspected, tested and maintained or removed. Required Action: The fire extinguisher in the office shall be properly mounted and shall be serviced annually. 2. _____ 2703.7.1 Smoking. Smoking shall be prohibited within 25 feet (7620 mm) of outdoor storage, dispensing or open use areas. - Required Action: Smoking shall not be conducted or allowed within 25 feet of fuel dispensers. Also, plastic cups shall not be used to discard cigarettes. 3. _____ 2703.3.1.4 Responsibility for cleanup. The person, firm or corporation responsible for an unauthorized discharge shall institute and complete all actions necessary to remedy the effects of such unauthorized discharge, whether sudden or gradual, at no cost to the jurisdiction. When deemed necessary by the fire code official, cleanup may be initiated by the fire department or by an authorized individual or firm. Costs associated with such cleanup shall be borne by the owner, operator or other person responsible for the unauthorized discharge. Required Action: - Provisions shall be made for mitigating unauthorized discharges (2703.3.1.1) -Train employees at all locations and on all shift on the company policy for handling spills. -Provide necessary equipment, tool or supplies for mitigating small spills. 4._____ 2205.2.3 Leak detectors. Leak detection devices required by Section 2206.7.7.1 shall be checked and tested at least annually in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications to ensure proper installation and operation. Required Action: Currently your Veeder Root system is in alarm mode. The problem shall be identified and corrected. The Tucson Fire Department is committed to the protection of your property.
