Dear Mr. Englund

The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection at the above stated business on October 12, 2009. Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). A Re-inspection will be performed on or about October 28, 2009

Notice of Violations:
1. ______ 1028.2 Reliability. Required exit accesses, exits or exit discharges shall be continuously maintained free from obstructions or impediments to full instant use in the case of fire or other emergency when the areas served by such exits are occupied. Security devices affecting means of egress shall be subject to approval of the fire code official.

- Required Correction: Remove the obstruction in the exit corridor at the rear of the store.

2. _____ 1006.1 Illumination required. The means of egress, shall be illuminated at all times the building space served by the means of egress is occupied.

- Required Correction: All exit signs and emergency back-up lighting shall operate properly throughout the business.

3. ______ 407.2 Material Safety Data Sheets. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all hazardous materials shall be readily available on the premises.

- Required Correction: Obtain MSDS for all chemicals.

4. _____ 1006.3 Illumination emergency power. The power supply for means of egress illumination shall normally be provided by the premise's electrical supply. In the event of power supply failure, back-up power shall be supplied.

5. _____ 605.5 Extension Cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. Extension cords shall be used only with portable appliances:

6. _____ 3403.5.3 Warning labels. Individual containers, packages and cartons shall be identified, marked, labeled and placarded in accordance with federal regulations and applicable state laws.

- Required Correction: Provide proper hazardous communication near battery storage areas. Shall be marked "CORROSIVE."

7. _____ 605.6 Unapproved conditions. Open junction boxes and open-wiring splices shall be prohibited. Approved covers shall be provided for all switch and electrical outlet boxes.

- Required Correction: Replace the missing electrical outlet cover under the drinking fountain in the storage area
