06/18/2009 | INSP - FULL | Violation | The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection at the above stated business . Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). 1.__Problem: Your exit sign over your front door is not lit and does not light when the backup battery is tested. TFC 1011.4 Exit signs shall be illuminated at all times. CORRECTION: You will cause your exit signs to be lit at all times. 2.__Problem: There are extension cords powering your deep fat fryers and your wash sink/disposal. TFC 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. CORRECTION: You will remove all extension cords in use in this restaurant. 3.__Problem: The extension cord that powers your fat fryer has a break in the outside sheathing. TFC 605.1 Electrical wiring, devices, appliances and other equipment that is modified or damaged and constitutes an electrical shock or fire hazard shall not be used. Identified electrical hazards shall be abated. CORRECTION: You will have the appliance placed out of service until the entire cord is replaced by a licensed professional. 4.__Problem: There is insufficient cooking suprression system coverage for your griddle and your fat fryers were moved away from the nozzles in an attemp to fit the griddle under the hood. TFC 904.11 Commercial cooking systems. The automatic fire-extinguishing system for commercial cooking systems shall be of a type recognized for protection of commercial cooking equipment and exhaust systems of the type and arrangement protected. CORRECTION: You will remove the griddle from service and replace the fat fryers under their respective sprinkler heads. You will acquire a commercial cooking sprinkler/hood system contractor and have them draw up plans to add the griddle to your system. These plans will be approved by systems design downtown before the appliance is put into service and any changes are made to the existing hood/suppression system. Once installed, the system addition shall first pass all applicable mechanical, electric, gas, and fire prevention tests before the griddle is placed into service.
