by this section egress doors shall be readily openable from
the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge
or effort.
1008.1.8.3 Locks and latches. Locks and latches shall
be permitted to prevent operation of doors where any of
the following exists:
4. Doors from individual dwelling or sleeping units
of Group R occupancies having an occupant load
of 10 or less are permitted to be equipped with a
night latch, dead bolt or security chain, provided
such devices are openable from the inside without
the use of a key or tool.

____Remove the drop bar brackets from bedroom #10. These types of locking devices are prohibited.
04/01/2009 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS Violation 1027.5 Illumination emergency power. The power supply for
means of egress illumination shall normally be provided by the
premises’ electrical supply. In the event of power supply failure,
illumination shall be automatically provided from an
emergency system for the following occupancies where such
occupancies require two or more means of egress:
8. Group R-2.
Exception: Where each dwelling unit or sleeping unit
has direct access to the outside of the building at
grade.
1027.3 Exit sign illumination. Exit signs shall be internally or
externally illuminated. The face of an exit sign illuminated
from an external source, shall have an intensity of not less than
5 foot-candles (54 lux). Internally illuminated signs shall provide
equivalent luminance and be listed for the purpose.

____Install emergency lighting units. They must be installed so they illuminate the entire means of egress in the event of a power failure.
____Install exit signs on front/main and rear exit. They must be internally or externally illuminated.
