Doors serving a means of egress system shall meet the requirements of this section and Section 1017.2. Doors provided for egress purposes in numbers greater than required by this code shall meet the requirements of this section. 1008.1.8 Door operations. Except as specifically permitted by this section egress doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort. 1008.2 Gates. Gates serving the means of egress system shall comply with the requirements of this section. Gates used as a component in a means of egress shall conform to the applicable requirements for doors. ____Both gates serving the means of egress on the east side of building must swing open properly. They must also be openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge. They are currently pad locked. ____Remove keyed lock from kitchen door. Replace with a thumbturn lock. ____Remove keyed lock from "green room" door. Replace with thumbturn lock.

In the event of power supply failure, illumination shall be automatically provided from an emergency system for the following occupancies where such occupancies require two or more means of egress: 1. Group A having 50 or more occupants. ____Install an emergency lighting unit in the chapter room.
