02/25/2009 | INSP - FULL | Violation | Currently there has not been an approved permit for spraying of flammable liquids as per International Fire Code 2006 edition; section 105.6.41, which states: 105.6.41 Spraying or dipping. An operational permit is required to conduct a spraying or dipping operation utilizing flammable or combustible liquids or the application of combustible powders regulated by Chapter 15. Currently this occupancy is using a spray booth, which is not approved by the Tucson Fire Department. This spray booth failed a final inspection on February 2, 2009 and has not passed a re inspection. Approval of this spray booth in writing is the operational permit. A stop work order (red tag) has been issued under IFC 111.1, which states: 111.1 Order. Whenever the fire code official finds any work regulated by this code being performed in a manner contrary to the provisions of this code or in a dangerous or unsafe manner, the fire code official is authorized to issue a stop work order. As of February 25, 2009, you are hereby ordered to cease all operations with this spray booth, until approved. Future uses of this non-approved spray booth could result in litigation. In addition, there is evidence of smoking and discarding of cigarettes immediately outside the entrance. Due to spaying and storage of flammable liquids, this ENTIRE property is a hazardous location. NO smoking shall be allowed on the premises. IFC 310.2 Future evidence of smoking shall result in immediate litigation. This building has been referred to City of Tucson Community Services for assistance in obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy. This letter is written as a courtesy to you |
