| 11/25/2008 | VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS | Violation | 1024.6 Access to a public way. The exit discharge shall provide a direct and unobstructed access to a public way. 1007.2 Continuity and components. Each required accessible means of egress shall be continuous to a public way 1026.1 General. In addition to the means of egress required by this chapter, provisions shall be made for emergency escape and rescue in Group R and I-1 occupancies. Basements and sleeping rooms below the fourth story above grade plane shall have at least one exterior emergency escape and rescue opening in accordance with this section. Where basements contain one or more sleeping rooms, emergency egress and rescue openings shall be required in each sleeping room, but shall not be required in adjoining areas of the basement. Such openings shall open directly into a public way or to a yard or court that opens to a public way. 1014.2 Egress through intervening spaces. Egress through intervening spaces shall comply with this section. Means of egress from dwelling units or sleeping areas shall not lead through other sleeping areas, toilet rooms or bathrooms. ____Currently the northwest bedroom does not have one acceptable exit that leads to a public way. One door leads through a bathroom. The second door leads to a small outside area approx 9'x5' which is blocked with a gate on one side and a block wall on the other. The third door leads through another sleeping area. The window leads to the swimming pool area which is fenced and locked. Provide approved plans if this bedroom was approved this way. If you cannot provide documentation, this will be reffered to Department of Neighborhood Resources. |
