08/07/2008 | VIOL - ADMINISTRATION | Approved | petition of appeal to the Fire Chief on 8/24/07. - re: Class IIIB liquids. DENIED ON 09/24/07. Tanks by definition and primary use are stationary. The venting requirements located in sections 3404.2.7.3 and 3404.2.7.4 of the TFC which is the 2006 Edition of the IFC with local amendments shall apply. The use of the plastic plug shall not substitute for the emergency vent. The test data provided is not UL certified and does not replicate actual fire conditions. Using a non -UL listed vent on a UL listed tank voids that listing. The 2003 IFC Section 3404.2.7.4 did have a typographical error referring to the NFPA 30 Standard and the correct reference should read NFPA 30 Section 4.2.5.2. This has been corrected in the 2006 IFC. per Chief Dan Uthe. |
