07/03/2008 | INSP - FULL | Correction Required | The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection at the above stated business . Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). ___1. PROBLEM: Cube adapter in outlet behind bar. TFC REFERENCE: 605.4 Multiplug adapters. Multiplug adapters, such as cube adapters, unfused plug strips or any other device not complying with the ICC Electrical Code shall be prohibited. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Plug appliances directly into outlet or use GFI power strip. ___2. PROBLEM: Power strip piggy backed onto another power strip in office. TFC REFERENCE: 605.4.2 Power supply. Relocatable power taps shall be directly connected to a permanently installed receptacle. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Power strip must be plugged directly into outlet. ___3. PROBLEM: Hood suppression system was last serviced/tested in 12/06. TFC REFERENCE: 904.11.6.4 Extinguishing system service. Automatic fire-extinguishing systems shall be serviced at least every 6 months and after activation of the system. Inspection shall be by qualified individuals, and a certificate of inspection shall be forwarded to the fire code official upon completion. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified individual service hood every 6 months. ___4. PROBLEM: Caps missing from a couple of nozzle tips on hood suppression system. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. AND NFPA 17A: NFPA 17A, 4.3.1.5: All discharge nozzles shall be provided with caps or other suitable devices to prevent the entrance of grease vapors, moisture or other foreign materials into the piping. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified professional replace missing tips on hood system discharge nozzles. ___5. PROBLEM: Discharge nozzle over griddle is blocked by apparently recently installed appliance. This appliance was added after installation of hood system and was not part of the originally designed system. TFC REFERENCE: 901.4 Installation. Fire protection systems shall be maintained in accordance with the original installation standards for that system. Systems shall be extended, altered, or augmented as necessary to maintain and continue protection whenever the building is altered, remodeled or added to. Alterations to fire protection systems shall be done in accordance with applicable standards. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Remove added appliance or present documentation from contractor stating that this is accepatble/will not affect nozzle coverage. ___6. PROBLEM: No service tag on class K fire extinguisher or 60 B:C fire extinguisher. These must be serviced yearly. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified individual service fire extinguishers. ___7. PROBLEM: Fire Sprinkler system riser lacks yearly test/service tag. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified individual inspect and test sprinkler system.. ___8. PROBLEM: No service records for hood system/sprinkler system available on premises for inspection. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6.2 Records. Records of all system inspections, tests and maintenance required by the referenced standards shall be maintained on the premises for a minimum of three years and shall be copied to the fire code official upon request. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have all service records of hood system and sprinkler system available on premises for inspection by fire code official. ___9. PROBLEM: Sprinkler riser completely blocked. TFC REFERENCE: 508.5.4 Obstruction. Posts, fences, vehicles, growth, trash, storage and other materials or objects shall not be placed or kept near fire hydrants, fire department inlet connections or fire protection system control valves in a manner thatwould prevent such equipment or fire hydrants from being immediately discernible. The fire department shall not be deterred or hindered from gaining immediate access to fire protection equipment or fire hydrants. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Access to sprinkler system riser and associated components shall not be blocked. ___10. Certificate of Occupancy not posted. TFC REFERENCE: 105.3.5 Posting the permit. Issued permits shall be kept on the premises designated therein at all times and shall be readily available for inspection by the fire code official. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have Certificate of Occupancy posted for inspection by fire code official.
