06/02/2008 INSP - FULL Correction Required The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection at the above stated business . Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications).

___1. PROBLEM: Compressed gas cylinder in main office is unsecured.
TFC REFERENCE: 3003.5.3 Securing compressed gas containers, cylinders and tanks. Compressed gas containers, cylinders and tanks shall be secured to prevent falling caused by contact, vibration or seismic activity.
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Properly secure compressed gas tank.

___2. PROBLEM: Main entrance to office has double key lock and has no sign indicating that door is to remain unlocked while building is occupied.
TFC REFERENCE: 1008.1.8.3 Locks and latches. Locks and latches shall be permitted to prevent operation of doors where any of
the following exists: 2.2. A readily visible durable sign is posted on
the egress side on or adjacent to the door stating: THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS
OCCUPIED. The sign shall be in letters 1 inch (25 mm) high on a contrasting background,
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have above mentioned sign posted above main entrance door.

___3. PROBLEM: Fire extinguishers tags are out of date.
TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an
operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or
repaired where defective. Nonrequired fire protection systems
and equipment shall be inspected, tested and maintained or
removed.
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Either have portable fire extinguishers serviced or remove from premises.

___4. PROBLEM: Hole in ceiling in fitness room and holes in walls behind dryer in laundry room on far west side and in small room behind laundry near main office.
TFC REFERENCE: 703.1 Maintenance. The required fire-resistance rating of fire-resistance-rated construction (including walls, firestops,
shaft enclosures, partitions, smoke barriers, floors, fire-resistive
coatings and sprayed fire-resistant materials applied to
structural members and fire-resistant joint systems) shall be
maintained. Such elements shall be properly repaired, restored
or replaced when damaged, altered, breached or penetrated.
Openings made therein for the passage of pipes, electrical conduit,
wires, ducts, air transfer openings and holes made for any
reason shall be protected with approved methods capable of
resisting the passage of smoke and fire.
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have holes in ceiling and walls properly repaired.

___5. PROBLEM: Material Safety Data Sheets on pool chemicals unavailable for inspection.
TFC REFERENCE: 407.2 Material Safety Data Sheets. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all hazardous materials shall be readily available on the premises.
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have MSDS readily available for inspection.

___6. PROBLEM: Pool chemicals stored outside in exposed to the elements and sunlight.
TFC REFERENCE: 2701.3.3.6 Protection of hazardous materials. Safeguards shall be provided to minimize the risk of exposing hazardous materials to a fire or physical damage
whereby such exposure could endanger or lead to the
endangerment of people or property.
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Store pool chemicals in a safe location unexposed to the elements.

___7. PROBLEM: Certificate of Occupancy not readily available for inspection.
TFC REFERENCE: 105.3.5 Posting the permit. Issued permits shall be kept on the premises designated therein at all times and shall be
readily available for inspection by the fire code official.
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have C of O posted and visble.

RECOMMENDATION: When I inspected the pool gates they functioned properly ( I.e. the closed properly ) but apparently someone closed gate but did not allow the catch to engage. Be sure these gates are checked from regularly to make sure they are properly latched as young children could easily wander into the pool area.
