05/14/2008 | INSP - FULL | Approved | A FULL INSPECTION WAS CONDUCTED WITH THE FOLLOWING DISCREPANCIES NOTED: 01. Extension cords and multiple adapters are in use throughout the shop areas. Discontinue using these devices. INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE (IFC) 605.4 Multiplug adapters. Multiplug adapters, such as cube adapters, unfused plug strips or any other device not complying with the ICC Electrical Code shall be prohibited. 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. 605.5.1 Power supply. Extension cords shall be plugged directly into an approved receptacle, power tap or multiplug adapter and, except for approved multiplug extension cords, shall serve only one portable appliance. 02. Electrical conduit is attached to the sprinkler branch line. Remove the conduit from the sprinkler piping. IFC 901.8 Removal of or tampering with equipment. It shall be unlawful for any person to remove, tamper with or otherwise disturb any fire hydrant, fire detection and alarm system, fire suppression system, or other fire appliance required by this code except for the purpose of extinguishing fire, training purposes, recharging or making necessary repairs, or when approved by the fire code official. 03. There are unsecured compressed gas cylinders in a tin building behind the main facility. Secure these cylinders. IFC 3003.5.3 Securing compressed gas containers, cylinders and tanks. Compressed gas containers, cylinders and tanks shall be secured to prevent falling caused by contact, vibration or seismic activity. 04. A portable fire extinguisher was not within 50 feet of the combustible liguid storage shed. Mount a 10 B rated fire extinguisher not closer than 10 feet and not farther than 50 feet from the shed. IFC 906.5 Conspicuous location. Portable fire extinguishers shall be located in conspicuous locations where they will be readily accessible and immediately available for use. |
