Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). ___1. PROBLEM: Front exit light not lit. TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 1011.2 Illumination. Exit signs shall be internally or externally illuminated. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have exit sign repaired so that it is lit. ___2. PROBLEM: Emergency lighting unit by back exit and in kitchen do not function. TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 1006.1 Illumination required. The means of egress, including the exit discharge, shall be illuminated at all times the building space served by the means of egress is occupied. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have emergency lighting units repaired. ___3. PROBLEM: Slide bolts on door with panic hardware on exit in rear of dining area. TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 1008.1.8.4 Bolt locks. Manually operated flush bolts or surface bolts are not permitted. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Remove slide bolts from exit in rear of dining area. ___4. PROBLEM: Door to patio has a double cylinder deadbolt. TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 1008.1.8 Door operations. Except as specifically permitted by this section egress doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have thumb turned lock installed. ___5. PROBLEM: Compressed gas cylinders in kitchen area on the floor are not properly secured from falling over. TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 3003.5.3 Securing compressed gas containers, cylinders and tanks. Compressed gas containers, cylinders and tanks shall be secured to prevent falling caused by contact, vibration or seismic activity. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Properly secure compressed gas cylinders from falling over. ___6. PROBLEM: Red caps missing from hood suppression nozzles. TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. NFPA 17A, 4.3.1.5: All discharge nozzles shall be provided with caps or other suitable devices to prevent the entrance of grease vapors, moisture or other foreign materials into the piping. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have caps replaced on nozzle tips. ___7. PROBLEM: The hood suppression system appears to have a misaligned nozzle. TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified individual service hood and check alignment of hood nozzles. ___8. PROBLEM: Power cube/adapter used in office closet and on on kitchen island. TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 605.4 Multiplug adapters. Multiplug adapters, such as cube adapters, unfused plug strips or any other device not complying with the ICC Electrical Code shall be prohibited. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Replace power cube adapter with approved GFI power strip. ___9. PROBLEM: Yellow extension cord in kitchen. TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Replace extension cord with approved GFI power strip or plug appliance directly into outlet. ___10. PROBLEM: Ceiling tile missing in kitchen. TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 703.1 Maintenance. The required fire-resistance rating of fire-resistance-rated construction (including walls, firestops, shaft enclosures, partitions, smoke barriers, floors, fire-resistive coatings and sprayed fire-resistant materials applied to structural members and fire-resistant joint systems) shall be maintained. Such elements shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced when damaged, altered, breached or penetrated. Openings made therein for the passage of pipes, electrical conduit, wires, ducts, air transfer openings and holes made for any reason shall be protected with approved methods capable of resisting the passage of smoke and fire. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Replace missing ceiling tile. ___11. PROBLEM: Back kitchen exit has two slide bolts on door. TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 1008.1.8.4 Bolt locks. Manually operated flush bolts or surface bolts are not permitted. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Remove slide bolts. ___12. PROBLEM: Back exit screen door has double cylinder dead bolt. TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 1008.1.8 Door operations. Except as specifically permitted by this section egress doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Install thumb turn lock on screen door.
