05/01/2008 VIOL - FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS Correction Required The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a hood suppression system inspection at the above stated business . Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications).

___1. PROBLEM: caps missing from nozzle tips.
NFPA REFERENCE: NFPA 17A, 4.3.1.5: All discharge nozzles shall be provided with caps or other suitable devices to prevent the entrance of grease vapors, moisture or other foreign materials into the piping.
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified individual service hood system.

___2. PROBLEM: Filters over the griddle are not properly secured allowing grease laden vapors to bypass filter system.
TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE:901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective.
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified individual service hood system and repair filter system.

___3. PROBLEM: Class K portable fire extinguisher tag is ripped. Unable to ascertain when last serviced.
TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective.
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified individual service fire extinguisher every year.

___4. PROBLEM: Class K portable fire extinguisher on floor.
TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 906.7 Hangers and brackets. Hand-held portable fire extinguishers, not housed in cabinets, shall be installed on the hangers or brackets supplied. Hangers or brackets shall be securely anchored to the mounting surface in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified individual place fire extinguisher on bracket.

___5. PROBLEM: Service records not available on premises for inspection.
TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 901.6.2 Records. Records of all system inspections, tests and maintenance required by the referenced standards shall be maintained on the premises for a minimum of three years and shall be copied to the fire code official upon request.
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Keep all hood service records in a file on the premises for inspection.

___6. PROBLEM: Hood system does not appear to have had its required service in an unknown amount of time.
TUCSON FIRE CODE REFERENCE: 904.11.6.4 Extinguishing system service. Automatic fire-extinguishing systems shall be serviced at least every 6 months and after activation of the system.
Inspection shall be by qualified individuals, and a certificate
of inspection shall be forwarded to the fire code official
upon completion.
REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified individual service hood system.
