Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). ___1. PROBLEM: Unapproved extension cord behind coke machine by main entrance. TFC REFERENCE: 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Plug appliance into outlet or use an approved GFI power strip. ___2. PROBLEM: Grey cord through hole in wall under desk in office. TFC REFERENCE: 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Plug appliance directly into outlet or approved GFI power strip. electrical cords must not run through walls. ___3. PROBLEM: Hole in wall under desk in office. TFC REFERENCE: 703.1 Maintenance. The required fire-resistance rating of fire-resistance-rated construction (including walls, firestops, shaft enclosures, partitions, smoke barriers, floors, fire-resistive coatings and sprayed fire-resistant materials applied to structural members and fire-resistant joint systems) shall be maintained. Such elements shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced when damaged, altered, breached or penetrated. Openings made therein for the passage of pipes, electrical conduit, wires, ducts, air transfer openings and holes made for any reason shall be protected with approved methods capable of resisting the passage of smoke and fire. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have hole repaired with properly rated dry wall. ___4. PROBLEM: Blocked exit in back by beer cooler. TFC REFERENCE:1003.6 Means of egress continuity...Obstructions shall not be placed in the required width of a means of egress... REQUIRED CORRECTION: Keep exit free of obstructions. ___5. PROBLEM: Access to breaker panels blocked by storage in back store room. TFC REFERENCE: 605.3Working space and clearance. A working space of not less than 30 inches (762 mm) in width, 36 inches (914 mm) in depth and 78 inches (1981 mm) in height shall be provided in front of electrical service equipment. Where the electrical service equipment is wider than 30 inches (762 mm), the working space shall not be less than the width of the equipment. No storage of any materials shall be located within the designated working space. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Keep area around breaker panels accessible. ___6. PROBLEM: Storage too close to sprinkler riser thus hindering access to sprinkler system components. TFC REFERENCE: 508.5.4 Obstruction. Posts, fences, vehicles, growth, trash, storage and other materials or objects shall not be placed or kept near fire hydrants, fire department inlet connections or fire protection system control valves in a manner thatwould prevent such equipment or fire hydrants from being immediately discernible. The fire department shall not be deterred or hindered from gaining immediate access to fire protection equipment or fire hydrants. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Keep access to sprinkler equipment clear. ___7. PROBLEM: Slide bolt on door with panic hardware. TFC REFERENCE: 1008.1.8.4 Bolt locks. Manually operated flush bolts or surface bolts are not permitted. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Remove slide bolt from door with panic hardware. ___8. PROBLEM: Fire extinguisher in pharmacy store room last serviced in 2005. REQUIRED CORRECTION: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have fire extinguisher serviced and have tag placed on indicating service date. ___9. PROBLEM: Fire extinguisher discharged and not on bracket. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. AND: 906.7 Hangers and brackets. Hand-held portable fire extinguishers, not housed in cabinets, shall be installed on the hangers or brackets supplied. Hangers or brackets shall be securely anchored to the mounting surface in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have portable fire extinguisher serviced by a qualified individual and secured on bracket. ___10. PROBLEM: Exit sign in pharmacy store room not lighted. TFC REFERENCE: 1011.2 Illumination. Exit signs shall be internally or externally illuminated. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have sign repaired so that it is functioning properly. ___11. PROBLEM: Cube adapter used in pharmacy under front counter. TFC REFERENCE: 605.4 Multiplug adapters. Multiplug adapters, such as cube adapters, unfused plug strips or any other device not complying with the ICC Electrical Code shall be prohibited. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Plug appliances directly into outlet or use approved GFI power strip. ___12. PROBLEM: Certificate of Occupancy not posted for inspection. TFC REFERENCE: 105.3.5 Posting the permit. Issued permits shall be kept on the premises designated therein at all times and shall be readily available for inspection by the fire code official.
