03/27/2008 | INSP - FULL | Correction Required | The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection at the above stated business . Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). ___1. PROBLEM: Unapproved brown extension cords used behind counters. TFC REFERENCE: 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Plug applaiances directly into outlet or use approved GFI power strips. ___2. PROBLEM: Exposed wiring in light fixture in warehouse. TFC REFERENCE: 605.6 Unapproved conditions. Open junction boxes and open-wiring splices shall be prohibited. Approved covers shall be provided for all switch and electrical outlet boxes. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Replace fixture cover plate or entire fixture if necessary. ___3. PROBLEM: Holes in walls in battery room and numerous ceiling tiles missing from back storage room. TFC REFERENCE: 703.1 Maintenance. The required fire-resistance rating of fire-resistance-rated construction (including walls, firestops, shaft enclosures, partitions, smoke barriers, floors, fire-resistive coatings and sprayed fire-resistant materials applied to structural members and fire-resistant joint systems) shall be maintained. Such elements shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced when damaged, altered, breached or penetrated. Openings made therein for the passage of pipes, electrical conduit, wires, ducts, air transfer openings and holes made for any reason shall be protected with approved methods capable of resisting the passage of smoke and fire. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Replace missing ceiling tiles and repair holes in walls with appropriate dry wall. ___4. PROBLEM: One light unit on emergency light unit in hallway is in disrepair. TFC REFERENCE: 1006.1 Illumination required. The means of egress, including the exit discharge, shall be illuminated at all times the building space served by the means of egress is occupied. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have emergency light repaired so that it is functional. ___5. PROBLEM: Storage around riser restricting access to riser. TFC REFERENCE: 508.5.4 Obstruction. Posts, fences, vehicles, growth, trash, storage and other materials or objects shall not be placed or kept near fire hydrants, fire department inlet connections or fire protection system control valves in a manner thatwould prevent such equipment or fire hydrants from being immediately discernible. The fire department shall not be deterred or hindered from gaining immediate access to fire protection equipment or fire hydrants. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Keep area around riser clear so that the Fire Dept. will have immediate access to sprinkler system if necessary. ___6. PROBLEM:Sprinkler system past due for yearly test. TFC REFERENCE:901.6.1 Standards. Fire protection systems shall be inspected, tested and maintained...AND: 901.6.2 Records. Records of all system inspections, tests and maintenance required by the referenced standards shall be maintained on the premises for a minimum of three years and shall be copied to the fire code official upon request. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have sprinkler system tested yearly and have service/test records available on premises for inspection.
