03/19/2008 | INSP - FULL | Correction Required | The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection at the above stated business . Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). ___1. PROBLEM: Orange extension cord used behind refridgerator. TFC REFERENCE: 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Plug appliance directly into outlet or use approved power strip with GFI. ___2. PROBLEM: Fire extinguisher in closet needs to be on bracket. TFC REFERENCE: 906.7 Hangers and brackets. Hand-held portable fire extinguishers, not housed in cabinets, shall be installed on the hangers or brackets supplied. Hangers or brackets shall be securely anchored to the mounting surface in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have portable fire extinguisher mounted on brackets. ___3. PROBLEM: Certificate of occupancy not available for inspection. TFC REFERENCE: 105.3.5 Posting the permit. Issued permits shall be kept on the premises designated therein at all times and shall be readily available for inspection by the fire code official. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have C of O posted so fire inspector can observe. ___4. PROBLEM: Used batteries in battery storage area not properly stacked. some are half way on their sides. Spillage of battery acid could occur. Should also a have spill containment method for stacked batteries such as a plasic tub. TFC REFERENCE: 608.5 Spill control and neutralization. An approved method and materials for the control and neutralization of a spill of electrolyte shall be provided in areas containing lead-acid, nickel-cadmium or other types of batteries with free-flowing liquid electrolyte. For purposes of this paragraph, a “spill” is defined as any unintentional release of electrolyte. REQUIRED CORRECTION: A better method for safely storing used batteries and for spill containment needs to be implemented. ___5. PROBLEM: Drums of antifreeze, Trans. fluid etc. need spill containment as the product is leaking on top of the drums from the dispensing tubes and spilling onto the floor. TFC REFERENCE: 2205.3 Spill control. Provisions shall be made to prevent liquids spilled during dispensing operations from flowing into buildings. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have some kind of spill containment method in place. The Tucson Fire Department is committed to the protection of your property and your life safety.
