03/14/2008 | INSP - FULL | Correction Required | The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection at the above stated business . Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). ___1. PROBLEM: Open wires on light fixture in break room. TFC REFERENCE: 605.6 Unapproved conditions. Open junction boxes and open-wiring splices shall be prohibited. Approved covers shall be provided for all switch and electrical outlet boxes. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Replace light fixture or have qualified individual repair. ___2. PROBLEM: Portable fire extinguisher on floor and has no service tag. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. Nonrequired fire protection systems and equipment shall be inspected, tested and maintained or removed. AND: 906.7 Hangers and brackets. Hand-held portable fire extinguishers, not housed in cabinets, shall be installed on the hangers or brackets supplied. Hangers or brackets shall be securely anchored to the mounting surface in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have portable fire extinguisher serviced and placed on a bracket or remove from premises. ___3. PROBLEM: Green extension cord leading to small fountain. TFC REFERENCE: 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Plug fountain directly into outlet or use approved power strip.. ___4. PROBLEM: Orange extension cord (?) appears to be coming out of ground. This cord leads to an outdoor fountain. TFC REFERENCE:605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. Extension cords shall be used only with portable appliances. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Must plug fountain directly into outlet or power strip. Cord cannot be buried directly under soil. Cord must be protected from environmental damage. May run through conduit. ___5. PROBLEM: Exterior outlet lacks weather proof cover. TFC REFERENCE605.6 Unapproved conditions. Open junction boxes and open-wiring splices shall be prohibited. Approved covers shall be provided for all switch and electrical outlet boxes. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Exterior outlet needs weather proof cover. ___6. PROBLEM: Ceiling dry wall missing in some spots allowing the passage of smoke and flames into the attic above the ceiling. TFC REFERENCE: 703.1 Maintenance. The required fire-resistance rating of fire-resistance-rated construction (including walls, firestops, shaft enclosures, partitions, smoke barriers, floors, fire-resistive coatings and sprayed fire-resistant materials applied to structural members and fire-resistant joint systems) shall be maintained. Such elements shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced when damaged, altered, breached or penetrated. Openings made therein for the passage of pipes, electrical conduit, wires, ducts, air transfer openings and holes made for any reason shall be protected with approved methods capable of resisting the passage of smoke and fire. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Replace missing drywall to ceiling. If you decide to tear all the drywall off the ceiling in the store area then you must get a permit first.
