feet (610 mm) or more below the ceiling in nonsprinklered

01/02/2008 INSP - FULL Violation FIRE-RESISTANCE-RATED CONSTRUCTION
703.1 Maintenance. The required fire-resistance rating of
fire-resistance-rated construction (including walls, fire stops,
shaft enclosures, partitions and floors) shall be maintained.
Such elements shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced
when damaged, altered, breached or penetrated. Openings
made therein for the passage of pipes, electrical conduit, wires,
ducts, air transfer openings, and holes made for any reason
shall be protected with approved methods capable of resisting
the passage of smoke and fire. Openings through fire-resistance-
rated assemblies shall be protected by self-closing or automatic-
closing doors of approved construction meeting the
fire protection requirements for the assembly.
703.1.1 Fireblocking and draftstopping. Required
fireblocking and draftstopping in combustible concealed
spaces shall be maintained to provide continuity and integrity
of the construction.
703.1.2 Smoke barriers. Required smoke barrier partitions
shall be maintained to prevent the passage of smoke and all
openings protected with approved smoke barrier doors or
leakage-rated (smoke) dampers.
Seal all holes in walls.

in accordance with the original installation standards for that
system. Required systems shall be extended, altered, or augmented
as necessary to maintain and continue protection whenever
the building is altered, remodeled or added to. Alterations
to fire protection systems shall be done in accordance with applicable standards.

01/02/2008 INSP - FULL Violation 1006.3 Illumination emergency power. The power supply for
means of egress illumination shall normally be provided by the
premise’s electrical supply.
In the event of power supply failure, an emergency electrical
system shall automatically illuminate the following areas:
1. Exit access corridors, passageways and aisles in rooms
and spaces which require two or more means of egress.
2. Exit access corridors and exit stairways located in buildings
required to have two or more exits.
3. Exterior egress components at other than the level of exit
discharge until exit discharge is accomplished for buildings
required to have two or more exits.
4. Interior exit discharge elements, as permitted in Section
1023.1, in buildings required to have two or more exits.
5. The portion of the exterior exit discharge immediately
adjacent to exit discharge doorways in buildings required
to have two or more exits.
The emergency power system shall provide power for a duration
of not less than 90 minutes and shall consist of storage
batteries, unit equipment or an on-site generator. The installation
of the emergency power system shall be in accordance with
Section 604.
