12/29/2009 ENGINEERING - FINAL Correction Required MALENA HAS CONTACTED ME ABOUT THE TWO ITEMS THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED PRIOR TO ISSUING THE C OF O. I MET ON-SITE WITH THE CONTRACTOR AND DISCUSSED PROBLEMS THAT HAVE BEEN NOTED ON THE PROJECT IN TODAY'S INSPECTION. 1) EROSION AROUND THE ROOF DOWNDRAINS AROUND THE NEW BUILDING. 2) DISTURBED SLOPES ME TO BE PROPERLY STABALIZED. 3) ADDITIONAL SIDEWALKS HAVE BEEN ADDED ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF THE BUILDING THAT WAS NOT CALLED FOR IN THE APPROVED PLANS. THIS ADDITIONAL SIDEWALK CREATED PROBLEMS DUE TO A DRAINAGE SWALE ADDED EAST OF THE NEW SIDEWALK, AND NO MEETING PLANNED SLOPE VALUES. 4) POOR DRAINAGE NOTED FROM THE NEW STRUCTURE ADDED AT THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE BUILDING. THIS AREA APPEARS TO POND EVERYTIME IT RAINS UNTIL THE WATER EITHER EVAPORATES, OR PERCS INTO THE SOIL. 5) STABALIZE ALL DISTURBED SOIL PER THE SPECIFICATIONS NOTED IN THE LAND USE CODE, OR AS DIRECTED BY THE LANDSCAPE DEPRTMENT.
I HAVE ADVISED THE CONTRACTOR THAT HE WILL NEED TO CONSULT THE ENGINEER OF RECORD IN REGARDS TO ALL OF THESE MATTERS PRIOR TO THE ISSUANCE OF THE TEMP C OF O DUE TO THE HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES THAT MAYBE INVOLVED DUE TO THE UNAPPROVED CHANGES MADE TO THIS SITE.
I CONTACTED JESUS LORENZO WITH DOWL HKM ENGINEERING AT 770-2100 AND ADVISED HIM OF THE ISSUES AT HAND. HE WILL LOOK VISIT THE FIELD AND MAKE RECOMMENDED SUGGESTIONS FOR THE REPAIRS THAT EITHER NEED TO BE MADE OR INCLUDED THE CHANGES IN AS-BUILT DRAWINGS.
