12/04/2007 | VIOL - FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS | Correction Required | The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a hood suppression system inspection at the above stated business . Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2006 International Fire Code (with modifications). ___1. PROBLEM: Red caps missing from tips of nozzles TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. NFPA 17A, 4.3.1.5: All discharge nozzles shall be provided with caps or other suitable devices to prevent the entrance of grease vapors, moisture or other foreign materials into the piping. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have caps replaced on discharge nozzles and keep them in place. ___2. PROBLEM: Questionable alignment of nozzles on frier hood next to french fry warmer. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. REQUIRED CORRECTION: Have qualified individual properly align discharge nozzles for effective coverage. ___3. PROBLEM: Service records not readily available for inspection. TFC REFERENCE: 901.6.2 Records. Records of all system inspections, tests and maintenance required by the referenced standards shall be maintained on the premises for a minimum of three years and shall be copied to the fire code official upon request. REQUIRED CORRECTION: All inspection, repair and maintenance of hood suppression system records shall be kept upon the premises and produced upon request. ___4. PROBLEM: Pull stations for manual activation not clearly labeled. TFC REFERENCE: 904.11.1 Manual system operation. A manual actuation device shall be located at or near a means of egress from the cooking area a minimum of 10 feet (3048 mm) and a maximum of 20 feet (6096 mm) from the kitchen exhaust system. The manual actuation device shall be installed not more than 48 inches (1200 mm) nor less than 42 inches (1067 mm) above the floor and shall clearly identify the hazard protected.
