| 06/06/2007 | INSP - FULL | Violation | 1). Currently the trash shutes are being used to dispose of trash. The result of course, is a large amount of combustible trash at the bottom. This practice is approved as long as all fire separation from the bottom of the trash collection area to the top of the shute is intact with approved fire resistive and protection devices. During the inspection it was noticed that the door closures to the many shute do not activate. Shute rated openings do not close automatically. This is in violation of the following Tucson Fire Codes; 703.2.3 Door operation. Swinging fire doors shall close from the full-open position and latch automatically. The door closer shall exert enough force to close and latch the door from any partially open position. All door closure to shutes shall close and latch automatically. 2). Move mattresses from rear, Unsprinkered area. IFC 903.3.3 3). Fire department connection in rear shall be labeled correctly, with approved sign, which states: 912.4 Signs. A metal sign with raised letters at least 1 inch (25 mm) in size shall be mounted on all fire department connections serving fire sprinklers, standpipes or fire pump connections. Such signs shall read: AUTOMATIC SPRINKLERS or STANDPIPES or TEST CONNECTION or a combination thereof as applicable. 4). Extension cords and power taps (from one to another) are being used in many offices. These shall be removed. IFC 604..4.2, IFC 605.5 This letter is to inform you that abatement of these Tucson Fire Code violations must be completed by 7-10-07. A re-inspection shall be conducted at that time to ensure compliance. |
