The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspection at the above stated business on May 4, 2007. Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2003 International Fire Code (with modifications). A Re-inspection will be performed on or about May 21, 2007

Notice of Violations:

____ 1008.1.8.3 Locks and latches. Locks and latches shall be permitted to prevent operation of doors where a readily visible durable sign is posted on the egress side on or adjacent to the door stating: THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED. The sign shall be in letters 1 inch (25mm) high on a contrasting background.
· Place the approved sign above the main entrance doors in the Office

_____ 407.4 MSDS Training. Persons responsible for the operation of areas in which hazardous materials are stored, dispensed, handled or used shall be familiar with the chemical nature of the materials and the appropriate mitigating actions necessary in the event of a fire, leak or spill.
· Train employees on the location of the MSDS/ Hazardous Communication Program.


_____ 906.7 Hangers and brackets. Hand-held portable fire extinguishers, not housed in cabinets, shall be installed on the hangers or brackets supplied.
· Properly mount the extinguisher in the shipping receiving area.

_____ 315.2.1 Ceiling clearance. Storage shall be maintained 2 feet (610 mm) or more below the ceiling in nonsprinklered areas of buildings or a minimum of 18 inches (457 mm) below sprinkler head deflectors in sprinklered areas of buildings.
· Replace the missing ceiling tiles in the computer service area.

_____ 605.4.2 Power supply. Relocatable power taps shall be directly connected to a permanently installed receptacle.
· Receiving/shipping area has powerstrips in a series.

_____ 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. Extension cords shall be used only with portable appliances.

_____ 102.4 Application of building code. The design and construction of new structures shall comply with the International Building Code. Repairs, alterations and additions to existing structures shall comply with the International Existing Building Code…
· Currently there is an office that was extended into part of the warehouse area. A fire door is missing. Provide plan and permits for the addition showing the removal of the door and structural calculations for the storage above the office.
· Storage shall not be place above the office area unless it can be shown that the ceiling was engineered to withstand the load.

_____ 1023.6 Access to a public way. The exit discharge shall provide a direct and unobstructed access to a public way.
· Currently there is an exit door with an illuminated exit sign that leads into a gates area. Exit issue shall be abated.

_____ 3003.3 Security. Compressed gas containers, cylinders, tanks and systems shall be secured against accidental dislodgment and against access by unauthorized personnel in accordance with Sections 3003.3.1 through 3003.3.3.
· Secure compressed gas cylinder in the stock area.

_____ 3403.5.3 Warning labels. Individual containers, packages and cartons shall be identified, marked, labeled and placarded in accordance with federal regulations and applicable
state laws.
· All 55 gallon drums shall be properly labeled as to their contents or properly disposed of. Currently there are many 55 gallon drums without labeling and a drum outside the gated area near the wash.
