03/27/2007 | INSP - FULL | Correction Required | PRE-CITATION LETTER ISSUED 03/27/07 Krone's Auto Repair Specialist ATTN: Rich Krone 8170 E. 22nd Tucson, AZ. 85710 RE: Fire Inspection Dear Mr. Krone The Tucson Fire Department has conducted a fire safety inspections at the above stated business on 2/23/07. At that time a notice was issued indicating the corrections required to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Three subsequent re-inspections were also conducted. We were unable to gain voluntary compliance. Compliance is required by the 2003 International Fire Code 2211.6 Fire extinguishers. Fire extinguishers shall be provided in accordance with Section 906. 906.1 #5 Where required. Portable fire extinguishers shall be installed in the following locations. #5. Where required by the sections indicated in Table 906.1. 906.7 Hangers and brackets. Hand-held portable fire extinguishers, not housed in cabinets, shall be installed on the hangers or brackets supplied. Hangers or brackets shall be securely anchored to the mounting surface in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. 1027.2 Exit Reliability. Required exit accesses, exits or exit discharges shall be continuously maintained free from obstructions or impediments to full instant use in the case of fire or other emergency. Security devices affecting means of egress shall be subject to approval of the fire code official. 1027.3 Obstructions. A means of egress shall be free from obstructions that would prevent its use… § Maintain clear exit path in the West exit from the bay. This was originally corrected in my presence. Upon re-inspection the exit was blocked by equipment again. Basement 105.6.17 Flammable and combustible liquids. An operational permit is required: See handout provided. 1. Currently there are 9 tank on the premises. 901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection, alarm and extinguishing systems shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective... 1. Send a current copy of the sprinkler test to the Fire Department annually. 2. No less that 6 spare heads shall be in your spare sprinkler head box. 906.1 #5 Where required. Portable fire extinguishers shall be installed in the following locations. #5. Where required by the sections indicated in Table 906.1. 1. Provide a fire extinguisher in the basement. This letter is to inform you that if the above stated necessary corrections have not been completed April 11, 2007 a citation will be issued which will require an appearance by you in court with a probable fine. Below is a list of violations that shall be corrected to provide compliance with the applicable codes, regulations and ordinances. Compliance is required by the 2003 International Fire Code with modifications. A Re-inspection will be performed on or about March 5, 2007. Bay #1: 605.6 Unapproved conditions. Open junction boxes and open-wiring splices shall be prohibited. Approved covers shall be provided for all switch and electrical outlet boxes. 1. Power cord on the resurfacing machine needs to be repaired. 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact.
