08/15/2007 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT Correction Required Responded to house fire at TFD's request. Fire located in hallway bathroom. Fire Cause Investigator, Tom Quesnel stated a potential defective electrical appliance as the cause. Due to the extent of the damage and the abundance of electrical wiring in the immediate area of the fire he was unable to pinpoint a definate source. The fire was in the ceiling area above the hall bath. Several roof joists were deeply charred and the fire burned through the roof deck in that area. Several of the studs in the interior partition wall separating the bath room and the living room were deeply charred as well. TFD cut a ventilation hole, approximately 4'x4', in the roof over the living room area. There was alarge bundle of electrical wiring in the immediate fire area which was affected. It was unknown at the time what circuits were damaged. There were several areas where TFD removed the drywall board to check for fire extension. The owner was present and signed a Notice and Order / Indemnification form, taking responsibility for the security and repair of the home. The owner was given a copy of the NAO/INDEM. form as well as the Damage Report and instructed to obtain permits for restoration. The gas and electric services were disconnected by the respective utility companies. Follow up with owner in 30 days for progress report.
