10/09/2006 | INITIAL CODE VIOLATION | Violation | Fire call # 06-56581. Fire in basement/furnace room. Room is being used as a small TV room. TFD determined smoking material as the possible cause. There was an extension cord and a piece of Romex with exposed splices running from the main living area into the basement area. Further inspection of the basement not possible due to accumulation of water. Inside the main residence there were numerous extension cords and power taps in use. In the kitchen area there was a 3-gang switch box with only one switch and no cover. The service panel did not have a dead-plate and the breakers and buses were exposed. There was a broken water pipe in the basement as well. I explained to the RP on the scene that he would need a licensed contractor to evaluate the electrical problems and correct them prior to the restoration of power. In addition there were numerous other Tucson Code violations. A seperate case will be opened to address those issues. Follow up 5 days. |
