be permitted to prevent operation of doors where any of
the following exists:
2.2. A readily visible durable sign is posted on the egress side on or adjacent to the door stating: THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED
WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED. The sign shall be in letters 1 inch
(25mm)high on a contrasting background. Replace old sign over front door with the required sign.

surface bolts are not permitted. Remove slide bolt lock from rear exit door.

illuminated. Provide constant illumination for front and rear exit signs.
12/21/2006 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS Violation 1003.6 Means of egress continuity. The path of egress travel
along a means of egress shall not be interrupted by any building
element other than a means of egress component as specified in
this chapter. Obstructions shall not be placed in the required
width of a means of egress except projections permitted by this
chapter. The required capacity of a means of egress system
shall not be diminished along the path of egress travel. Remove shelves, trash, and ladder, and stock blocking the exit path to the door.
