Tucson, AZ. 85730 RE: Fire Inspection Dear Mr. Powell The Tucson Fire Department conducted an initial fire prevention inspection at the address listed above. The following are the Fire Code violations that were noted for correction. 703.1 Maintenance. The required fire-resistance rating of fire-resistance-rated construction (including walls, fire stops, shaft enclosures, partitions and floors) shall be maintained. Such elements shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced when damaged, altered, breached or penetrated. Openings made therein for the passage of pipes, electrical conduit, wires, ducts, air transfer openings, and holes made for any reason shall be protected with approved methods capable of resisting the passage of smoke and fire…. 1. Replace the missing ceiling tiles in the Liquor lock-up area. 2. Repair the ceiling in the electrical room where the conduit extends through the ceiling. 3. Repair the ceiling in the water heater room where the drywall is opened up. 315.2.1 Ceiling clearance. Storage shall be maintained 2 feet (610 mm) or more below the ceiling in nonsprinklered areas of buildings or a minimum of 18 inches (457 mm) below sprinkler head deflectors in sprinklered areas of buildings. 1. Stock is too high above the cooler in the liquor lock-up area. 2. Stock is too high in the store throughout display area. 315.2 Storage in buildings. Storage of combustible materials in buildings shall be orderly. Storage shall be separated from heaters or heating devices by distance or shielding so that ignition cannot occur. · Currently the boxes in the stock area are directly against the space heater. Steps shall be taken to abate this issue. 605.1 Abatement of electrical hazards. Identified electrical hazards shall be abated. Identified hazardous electrical conditions in permanent wiring shall be brought to the attention the code official responsible for enforcement of the ICC Electrical Code. Electrical wiring, devices, appliances and other equipment that is modified or damaged and constitutes an electrical shock or fire hazard shall not be used. 1. Replace the missing electrical outlet cover in the stock room near the roll-up door. 2. Replace the missing electrical covers under the desk in the office located near the photo shop. 605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. Extension cords shall be used only with portable appliances. 1. Remove the cords under the computer in the photo shop (East). 2. Remove the cord near the main cashier headed behind display cases. 3. Remove the cords near the ceiling and on the display aisles in aisle 2C. 508.5.4 Obstruction. Posts, fences, vehicles, growth, trash, storage and other materials or objects shall not be placed or kept near fire hydrants, fire department inlet connections or fire protection system control valves in a manner that would prevent such equipment or fire hydrants from being immediately discernible. The fire department shall not be deterred or hindered from gaining immediate access to fire protection equipment or fire hydrants. 1. Remove the stock that is blocking the fire department riser. 315.2.3 Equipment rooms. Combustible material shall not be stored in boiler rooms, mechanical rooms or electrical equipment rooms. 1. Remove the stock that you have stored in the electrical room 2. Remove the combustible stock that is stored next to the water heater. 2403.12.6.1 Exit sign illumination. Exit signs shall of an approved self-luminous type or shall be internally or externally illuminated… 1. Exit sign to leading to the rear exit shall operate by battery back-up 2. Exit sign in the Pharmacy shall be illuminated 407.2 Material Safety Data Sheets. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all hazardous materials shall be readily available on the premises. · Train employees on the location of the MSDS sheets (all shifts). 407.3 Identification. Individual containers of hazardous materials, cartons or packages shall be marked or labeled in accordance with applicable federal regulations. Buildings, rooms and spaces containing hazardous materials shall be identified by hazard warning signs in accordance with Section 2703.5.1. · Properly label all containers in the photo area.
