07/12/2006 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS Violation Exit signs:
TFC 1011.1 Where required. Exits and exit access doors shall be marked by an approved exit sign readily visible from any direction of egress travel. Access to exits shall be marked by readily visible exit signs in cases where the exit or the path of egress travel is not immediately visible to the occupants. Exit sign placement shall be such that no point in an exit access corridor is more than 100 feet (30 480 mm) or the listed viewing distance for the sign, whichever is less, from the nearest visible exit sign.
***Place exit signs as neccessary to direct people to the fire corridor or rear exit. [from the warehouse areas.]
07/12/2006 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS Violation Emergency lighting:
TFC 1006.3 Illumination emergency power. The power supply for means of egress illumination shall normally be provided by the premise's electrical supply. In the event of power supply failure, an emergency electrical system shall automatically illuminate the following areas:
1. Exit access corridors, passageways and aisles in rooms
and spaces which require two or more means of egress.
2. Exit access corridors and exit stairways located in buildings
required to have two or more exits.
***Install emergency lighting to comply with this requirement. [basically this means in each of the larger storerooms aimed at the paper exit signs]
07/12/2006 VIOL - MEANS OF EGRESS Violation Bar on 2 doors & all key locks except front door:
1008.1.8 Door operations. Except as specifically permitted by this section egress doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort.
***Remove bar and all associated hardware from the 2 doors.
***Remove Key lock on inside of house stairway leading to fire corridor and replace with "thumb latch" type bolt. Also the three side doors leading to fence area. & 2nd floor S stairway door. [no keyed locks at all]
