03/29/2000 INITIAL CODE VIOLATION Correction Required ADDTL COMMS - WENT TO PROPERTY AND FOUND A HOLE UNDER THE REAR ADDITION WEST WALL. THE HOLE WAS ABOUT 6DEEP, 3 WIDE AT THE WIDEST, AND SHAPED LIKE AN EGG. THE OPENING AT THE TOP WAS ABOUT 1 SQUARE FOOT. THE OPENING, TO THE HOLE, IS DIRECTLY UNDER THE ROOF DRAINAGE FOR THE ADDITION, WHICH IS PROBABLY CAUSING THE WASH OUT. INFORMED THE OWNER TO FILL THE HOLE WITH A STONE MIXTURE AND KEEP FILLING IT AS IT SETTLES. THERE WAS VISIBLE HAIRLINE CRACKING IN THE STUCCO ABOVE THE HOLE, BUT NO MAJOR MOVEMENT NOTED. THE OWNER CAME INTO THE OFFICE THIS WEEK TO SAY THAT THE FILL HAD SETTLED AND THE FLOOR WAS DROPPING. WENT TO PROPERTY AND SAW THE MINOR HAIRLINE CRACKING ON THE STUCCO, BUT NO ONE WAS HOME TO GET INSIDE TO SEE THE FLOOR. INFORMED OWNER TO KEEP FILLING THE HOLE AS IT SETTLES AND PUT A CONCRETE OR STONE TOP ON THE HOLE, UNDER THE FOUNDATION FOR SUPPORT.
